I played this
piece in the spring of 2004 at Minisink Valley High School in Slate
Hill, New York. I must say that to this day, it remains one of the
best pieces I've ever played in my concert band. It was a big hit at
our school and at our competition that year at Paramount's Kings
Dominion. Everyone had a great time with it. Kudos to Mr. Balmages!

Comments on: Flight
of the Griffin
This is one of the
best musical compositions I have ever had the honor of playing. It
fully represents what a great piece of music should be. Mr. Balmages
is a fantastic composer and a great conductor, one I was honored to
meet and speak with. I would just like to thank him for creating such
a masterpiece and inspiring those of us who are aspiring to achieve
such greatness. Flight of the Griffin is such a colorful piece
of music, full of excitement and lyrical lines that told a story to
all who heard it. Thank you Mr. Balmages for sharing your talents
with us.

Heaven's Air
When I was a
senior in high school at Indian Valley High in Gnadenhutten, Ohio, we
were in the midst of practicing this piece for our spring concert
when, tragically, one of our fellow band members and friends was
killed in a car accident. From then on, it was obvious that our
spring concert would be dedicated to her, and this song would be the
centerpiece. I've never felt so much emotion and power flowing
through one piece, and I've never forgotten the audience's reaction
to our tear-stained performance. When a piece of music can envelop
you and make you sense the presence of a lost loved one, it is
something more than just notes on paper. In Heaven's Air is an
amazing piece for small concert bands. It is moving, compelling, and
I'm sure I speak for all members of the IVHS concert band from
20022003, in saying that it helped us heal. Thank you for such
a beautiful piece.

Fantasía española
is a very good look into Spanish sound and rhythm. I have learned new
techniques through playing it such as col legno. My orchestra
class is very amused by its graceful tone. I love this piece!

Comments on: Roswell,
1947
Roswell 1947,
simply put, is awesome. The part for each instrument meshes with all
of the others to create an exceptional presentation. Roswell 1947
includes a perfect combination of quick, exciting parts, along with
slow, flowing parts that compliment each other wonderfully. It's a
great piece all around.

Comments on: Calling
Dr. Chops
I played Calling
Dr.Chops in the Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra and man did I have
a blast! It was one of the toughest peaces I have ever played but
when it came together it rocked! We got a standing "o" from
the audience and there were people dancing in the aisles! It was
awesome. Thank you for writing great literature for Jazz Ensembles!

Lightning Spirit
The Lightning Spirit
is a great piece of music that has allowed my 7th grade concert band
to play to it's strengths. It's an exciting selection that I feel
will make any young band sound advanced.

And Ritual
Our 7th grade band
is playing this right now as an extra piece for our concert. I play
the flute and really love the dynamic changes and how full of life it
is. Although it isn't very difficult it makes you excited to play it
and i just love it!

My students really
seem to enjoy learning this piece, it sounds great and it's fun for
them to play! Features parts such as 2nd and 3rd trumpet which
wouldn't normally have this big of a role in other songs

Heaven's Air
This is a very
beautiful piece, and what's even better is that Samuel R. Hazo is my
conductor for Symphonic Band for All District. So I will be excited
to see if we are playing this piece. Its very nice and gentle which
is what i like about it. One of my favorites.

I'd just like to
say that I truly enjoy playing this piece in my High School band.
When my director had us listen to this piece, I was amazed! I was
totally excited that we got to play this piece. It has so much life
and energy and meaning within it that it literally gives you chills
and get you really excited! It almost mad me cry, and even though I'm
in the band, I don't get into pieces very much, but this one touched
my heart.

We're currently
learning this piece in my high school's band and I have to say it's
really interesting! My favorite part about it is how the solo part
switches from instrument to instrument throughout the song. It's a
challenge, but again, really fun.

I am an 8th grader
at a middle school in Columbia, South Carolina. In our district, we
have a concert every year and this year all the 8th grade string
orchestras from all 5 middle schools are playing this piece.
It is probably one
of my favorite pieces that I have played since the 6th grade. It is a
really enjoyable piece to play.

Comments on: Rhythmata
Rhythmata
by Eric Morales is a wonderful piece of music. I have performed it
with my 8th Grade Concert Band, and now plan to use it at an
Inter-Mid level town-wide program. It is a very demanding piece, both
rhythmically and with numerous chromatics. With the necessary quick
tempo, the piece should be rated a 3.5.

Comments on: Symphonic

What's great about
music, is that it has the ability to show emotions deeper than words
can speak. Symphonic Episodes holds true to this tradition. It
was a challenge and an honor to play.

I heard this
performed at Midwest. It was absolutely beautiful. It is slow and
lyrical with plenty of potential to teach important concepts.

I just passed this
out to one of my middle school string orchestras to read through and
we absolutely loved it! It is well-written, eminently playable and
keeps the violas interested. Thank you for publishing quality music
for the developing string orchestra. This is the first piece I have
purchased from FJH it it will definitely not be the last!

Legend
I was part of the
orchestra that Del Borgo composed this piece for and it was so much
fun to play. I play the violin and I still loved every part of the
song including the other instruments. Our conductor Andrew Sussman
was so fond of Del Borgo. We played at least six of his pieces in the
past three years. In my opinion the best aspect about Del Borgo is
his endings, he does such a good job wrapping up his pieces and much
like Rossini, you never know when the ending is going to come. Del
Borgo is by far one of my most favorite composers.

I went to my
nephew's 8th grade concert expecting the same type of music from
previous years but, was pleasantly surprised with this piece. I
