At this level, it
is a rare piece that has a great deal of educational value AND
student appeal. Our students thoroughly enjoy playing this piece
for them, it not only has exciting parts, but they can relate
to the story behind the music, and it has a great deal of meaning for
all of us.

I had the pleasure
of playing this piece while attending Morehead State University. Mr.
Balmages was actually there to conduct it. It was an honor and an
inspiring experience for me. This song will invoke tears, if you're
playing it, and grip your soul when you listen to it.

In Heaven's Air
is a wonderful and moving composition, not rhythmically difficult,
but very lushly scored, and harmonically intriguing. Lots of teaching
and music making possibilities for school ensembles and community bands.

Your songs are
wonderful works of art. The dynamics create a nice mood to the
pieces. For orchestra camp we are playing Blue-Fire Fiddler,
it is challenging and sound wonderful. Everyday I listen to Odyssey
and it is very neat. All my friends are dying to hear our orchestra
play it this year. I hope you keep creating wonderful works of art.

This piece was one
phenomenal and beautiful work! I was part of the band that first
played this the Romulus High School Band. It was tons of fun!
It's a pretty tricky work to master, especially for the woodwinds at
the end due to a lot of tricky quick runs, but once it's under their
fingers, it flies like the wind! It was lots of fun, and I'd
recommend it to anyone interested in a fun challenge!

This is really a
beautifully written piece! I look forward to hopefully playing it
with my students once I begin teaching music myself. This is sure to
be a crowd pleaser and its very flowing a lot of musical
"stuff" as my kids would say, is going on and it is just
absolutely beautiful!

is a great piece! My school worked with Mr. Del Borgo earlier in the
year when we commissioned a piece. We played it in an honors band
concert, and the crowd absolutely loved it! The same is true for all
the kids in the band it's very catchy and we've all managed to
keep it stuck in our heads! I strongly recommend this piece to any
band that's looking for a great, fun piece to play!

This is the piece
that I am using to conduct my first concert with a college wind
ensemble. I think it is a great piece for a beginning conductor to
start with because of the various time signatures and nice chordal
structure. I also enjoy this piece because of the setting the
composer gave. It gives a good sense of who this child was and how he
lived out his life.

I played this last
year with my orchestra, and I not only had a good time preparing it,
but the concert was really fun too. I love this and recommend it to
any orchestra looking for a well-rounded fully developed piece.

A wonderful and
Dramatic Piece. I really enjoyed the sound affects. This song also
has a variety of entrances which I enjoy a lot. I am a low woodwind
and I just loved the low part.

This piece is
great! We are learning it for our Festival Concert this upcoming
March in my Symphonic Band class. It's a dissonant powerful piece,
and it's very fun to play. Highly recommended for any middle-level band.

Comments on: The
FJH String Orchestra Catalog
Just a quick note
to thank you for promoting and selling such high quality string
orchestra music! I have been a string teacher for over 20 years and
there was a period of time when most publishers were releasing very
poor quality music that bored the students to death. I'm glad to see
that publishers who are new to string orchestra
literature are not
insulting the intelligence of public school students.
This is my second
year of ordering music from FJH and I am impressed. The quality of
composition is excellent! The students, the audiences and I enjoy
your music. I trust that FJH plans to continue writing for string orchestras.
Thank you for
making my teaching even more enjoyable.

Great chart! The
rhythm section parts were easy for my kids to read. And the horns
didn't fall asleep during the solos because of the interesting
pyramid background parts. A must buy!

I'm the bass
trombonist for our jazz band, and I loved playing this piece, mainly
for it's great soli section which includes the bass trombone and bari
sax. I can't think of any charts off the top of my head that are more
fun to play!

Comments on: When
Summer's in the Meadow
I am a high school
orchestra director in Texas, and I used this piece with my top
orchestra for our UIL contest. It brought us much success. The judges
loved the piece, and commented many times on its beauty. It's a very
emotional and musical piece that has something fun for each part. The
piece is reminiscent of A Summer Place, and other pieces of
that era. A truly wonderful work that is also a great teaching piece
- for both students and teacher!

We are playing
this piece in our school orchestra, and to be honest it is one of the
best pieces I have ever heard. I love the jig and the reel, and at
the end when the chant joins the reel it is amazing.

Comments on: Reflexão
e dança
I am writing to
express my admiration and appreciation for Dr. Lissa Fleming May's
recent composition entitled Reflexão e dança. I
saw the chart at a band reading session last August and thought it
looked like a marvelous teaching tool. I just recently pulled it out
and used it with my class. As I anticipated, the students enjoyed
playing through the piece from the very first time we looked at it.
The opportunity to
teach and have the students utilize improvisation and arranging
techniques in a concert band setting was extremely rewarding.

I would like
to say that I personally love this piece, if it wasn't for my music
teacher Ms. Patterson I would have never gotten the chance to hear
this beautiful song. Now that my ears have gotten a chance to dwell
on this lovely song it has opened my eyes to a lot of different kinds
of melodies of music and they all don't have to be boring old kid
stuff. I would just like to give my thanks to Soon Hee Newbold for
composing such a moving piece.
