Sounds of Madrid was awarded the 2009 Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Award. Written in 6/8 time and in the key of F minor, this intermediate level solo has a rich Mediterranean style characterized by an animated A section consisting of staccatos and chromatics. The B section provides a nice contrast with an expressive, lyrical rubato quality. Students will love this piece!
