This intermediate
level romantic style piece opens with cascading hand-over-hand
arpeggios that flow into a middle section featuring a lyrical R.H.
melody with an extended broken chord accompaniment. After an
eight-measure bridge section using a few chords and some L.H. melodic
playing, the opening material is revisited. |

Your intermediate
level students will love this piece written in 6/8 time and in the
key of A minor. The beautiful legato melodic lines, often written on
ledger lines offset by sections consisting of syncopated chords, will
make a strong impression! In the middle section of this piece,
labeled risoluto, the LH plays the melody while the RH
accompanies with chords. A return to the opening material closes out
this wonderful work. |

Night Flight |

The whirling,
rhythmic, eighth-note patterns of Night Flight (written in 2),
take off in the spirit of a tarantella. The left hand keeps
the beat steady, with rising and falling chromatics played atop open
intervals. An excellent choice to reinforce playing two- and
three-note slurs. The bravura ending makes for a nice recital flourish. |

improvisation and will be a super introduction to the jazz idiom. |
