Philip W. Groeber
Philip W. Groeber (GRAY-burr) is the Director
of Guitar Publications for The FJH Music Company
and writer of over 65 guitar, ukulele, electric
bass, and recorder publications, including Everybody’s
Guitar Method, The FJH Young
Beginner Guitar Method, and other methods
for both classical and jazz guitar, ukulele, electric
bass, and recorder. He enjoys giving guitar workshops
throughout the country, instructing both teachers
and students concerning guitar education and performance.
He has been appearing as a guest instructor at
many guitar workshops through organizations such
as Guitar & Accessories Marketing Association
(GAMA) and Teaching Guitar Workshops
(TGW). Phil also has extensive experience in the
music-publishing industry as an arranger, composer,
editor, performer, and production manager.
Phil holds a degree in theory and composition
from the University of Miami, Florida, as well
as a degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Former guitar teachers include Claire Callahan
and Juan Mercadal. As a performer, he is proficient
in a variety of musical styles ranging from orchestra
and musical theater to jazz and rock, and has
performed professionally as a guitarist, pianist,
bassist (double bass/electric), and musical director.
An active teacher throughout his career, Phil
values the opportunity he has been given to reach
hundreds of students of all ages, helping them
to learn and appreciate the gift of making music.
