Elizabeth DeMerritt Cobb

Elizabeth DeMerritt Cobb

Elizabeth DeMerritt Cobb’s earliest recollections of music are of her grandmother singing to her, and her mother, a concert pianist, filling their house with beautiful music. Elizabeth had piano lessons from age 5, beginning with her mother, and then with Francis Moore in New York City. She majored in music at Connecticut College and at Averett University. Afterwards, she did graduate coursework at Hollins University.

Elizabeth believes in the importance of scales, chords, cadences, and arpeggios in daily practice. They are not only for exercising, but also understanding the structure of the music as well as developing one's ear to the sound of these elements.
