Frank Mantooth published over 165 works for jazz combo and jazz ensemble. In addition to his extensive print catalog, five of Frank's albums garnered a total of 11 Grammy nominations in both writing and playing categories. He taught at several summer jazz camps and was an artist-in-residence at various universities and high schools throughout the country. Commissions included works for Doc Severinsen, Louie Bellson, Pete Christlieb, the Kansas City Symphony, the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and the Airmen of Note.
In 1999, Frank received the Florence Crittenton Foundation's Citizen of the Year Award‹previous recipients have been former Kansas Senator Nancy Kassenbaum-Baker and former First Lady Barbara Bush‹and the Homer Osborne award for outstanding contributions to jazz education. Frank touched many as a pianist, composer, arranger, clinician, and educator.
