Michael J. Miller


Michael J. Miller is a composer, conductor, and educator. From 2013-2018, Mr. Miller was the Director of Bands at Joe E. Newsome High School in Lithia, FL where ensembles regularly earned top ratings and placements at state and national festivals and competitions. Newsome's crowning achievements under Miller's direction were being named the 2015 Bands of America Regional Grand Champions in Newark, DE, their performance in the 2016 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and receiving the Florida Bandmasters Association’s Otto Kraushaar award for straight superior ratings from every judge at marching, jazz, district and state concert band assessments.

Mr. Miller's music is in demand, and is played by concert bands and marching bands of all levels across the United States. Miller holds a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Syracuse University. He is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, the Florida Music Educators Association, the Florida Bandmasters Association, the National Band Association, and is a brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He currently resides in Horse Cave, KY where he spends his time composing, writing drill for marching bands, lifting weights, and taking nature walks. When he isn’t working, Miller enjoys traveling the world with his wife, Vivian and experiencing the food culture wherever they go.
