Teaching the World to Play!
Kristen Avila runs an active piano studio, and especially enjoys teaching her students through
games and activities. She received piano pedagogy certificates from Indiana-Purdue
University in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and from Grand Valley State University in Grand
Rapids, Michigan. She is active in her local chapter of GMMTA, and holds MMTA certification for the state of Michigan. She studied piano with Dr. Helen
Marlais, and has been a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and Phi Kappa Phi. Kristen
lives in Muskegon, Michigan with her husband, Jim, and their six children. She
enjoys scrapbooking, cross stitching, camping, and playing cards (especially euchre).
