Commissioned to commemorate the 100th anniversary of America’s National Park Service, this suite is a musical portrait of three cherished natural areas. The first movement is a short fantasia based on the folk song . The second movement portrays wonder at the sheer size and scope of the Redwood forest. The last movement is a fast, energetic portrayal of ancient pictographs found at Big Bend National Park.
