Ralph Johnson


Ralph Johnson is a Las Vegas-based arranger, composer, drummer/percussionist, and bassist.

In addition to two Wave Mechanics Union albums (featured in heavy rotation on Sirius XM), Ralph has recorded and performed with The Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, Indianapolis Latin Percussionist Larry Calland's band Conga Jazz, and his own band, Flip City.

He has arranged music for folk singer Ani DiFranco, The Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, The Heartland Jazz Ensemble (Indianapolis), The Northern Illinois University Caribbean Steel Orchestra, marching bands at Northwestern University, East Texas State University, The University of Colorado, as well as several Bands of America Grand National Finalists, including the 1990 and 1991 BOA Grand National Champion Plymouth-Canton Educational Park.

He has performed with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans, Al Grey (Count Basie Orchestra), John Von Ohlen (Stan Kenton Orchestra), Jim Snidero (NY saxophonist), Adrien Re (Washington, DC saxophonist) Jim Rupp (Woody Herman Orchestra), Louis Bellson, Bob James (NY pianist and composer), Andy Narell (Steel Pan virtuoso), Kay Caruso (Las Vegas virtuoso guitarist), Benjamin Hale (guitarist/singer/actor 'Johnny Cash' in "The Million Dollar Quartet" at Harrah's Las Vegas), and numerous jazz and rock groups in Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, and Las Vegas.
